Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana Provides Borehole to Bolgatanga Community

Bolgatanga: The Youth Harvest Foundation Ghana (YHFG), a youth-focused non-governmental organisation, recently completed and handed over a new borehole to the Yikene community in the Bolgatanga Municipality, Upper East Region, aiming to improve local access to clean water and enhance the quality of life for its residents. According to Ghana News Agency, the initiative by YHFG is part of its efforts to alleviate the burdens faced by women and children who frequently have to travel long distances to fetch water. The provision of a closer water source is expected to afford them more time for educational pursuits and other productive activities. The borehole also represents the NGO's commitment to fulfilling a promise made during its 20th anniversary celebration last year. Mr David Ayine, the Acting Executive Director of YHFG, highlighted the borehole's role as a symbol of the organization's partnership with the community and its vision for a better future. He expressed his gratitude towards the staff, the boar d of trustees, and particularly Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, YHFG's senior advisor, for their support in making the project possible. Community representatives have warmly received the new water source. Mr Abraham Atinganeriba, a local unit community member, emphasized that access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right and celebrated the NGO's efforts in making this a reality for Yikene. Mr Adongo Ayaane, an elder in the community, expressed his gratitude to YHFG for their longstanding support and hoped for the organization's continued growth and service. Local residents, including Madam Azanre Azure and Madam Atinga Asarika, noted that the borehole is a significant relief. For many, particularly the elderly, the struggle to access water has been a major daily challenge. With the new borehole, they anticipate a significant improvement in their daily productivity and a decrease in the physical strain of fetching water.
