New york: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has issued a stern warning to Russia, threatening to target the Kremlin if the war against Ukraine continues. In an interview with The Axios Show, Zelensky emphasized the need for Russian officials to be aware of their bomb shelter locations, indicating that they might be necessary if hostilities persist.
According to Ghana News Agency, Zelensky expressed hope for the acquisition of unspecified long-range weapons from the United States, although he assured that any military action would avoid civilian targets. “We are not terrorists,” Zelensky asserted, distancing his strategy from attacks on non-military sites.
Zelensky highlighted that the Ukrainian military is equipped with combat drones capable of traveling up to 3,000 kilometers, noting that the Kremlin is located only approximately 450 kilometers from Ukraine’s border.
In response, Dmitry Medvedev, former Kremlin chief and current deputy chairman of the Russian National Security Council, issued a stark warning to Zelensky. Medvedev threatened retaliatory strikes against Kiev, suggesting that the weapons Russia possesses could surpass the protective capabilities of bomb shelters. He also cautioned the United States regarding Zelensky’s requests for long-range weapons.
The tension follows an incident in May 2023, where two drones exploded over the Kremlin’s grounds. Despite the implications, Kiev denied any involvement at the time.
Ukraine has been engaged in a defensive struggle against Russia’s full-scale invasion for over three and a half years, with the conflict showing no signs of imminent resolution.
