Zenzri Proposes Twinning Between Yokohama and Tunisian City

Yokohama: Premier Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri has proposed a twinning agreement between Yokohama and a Tunisian city, alongside the organization of a Tunisian-Japanese economic forum in 2026. This proposal emerged during her meeting with Yokohama Mayor Takeharu Yamanaka, held on the sidelines of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9).

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, both leaders expressed a shared willingness to enhance the cooperation that has flourished for nearly sixty years. Zenzri praised the successful organization of TICAD 9, which focused on “Co-create Innovative Solutions.” She emphasized the necessity of developing relations in strategic sectors and suggested the twinning agreement be concluded once a suitable Tunisian city is selected based on mutual criteria and considerations.

Mayor Yamanaka expressed his pleasure at hosting the Tunisian delegation and showed interest in increasing cooperation with Tunisia, especially in port management and digitization. The Prime Minister’s visit to Japan is centered around attending TICAD 9, which takes place in Yokohama from August 20-22.
