“Zitouna Tamkeen” devotes 360 MD for financing agricultural projects in Tunisia

Jalel Baklouti, Deputy Managing Director of Zitouna Tamkeen said at a training session on the fundamentals of Islamic finance held on Tuesday at the headquarters of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP) that the institution has allocated 360 million dinars (MD) to finance agricultural projects in Tunisia, over five years.

Baklouti said that 30% of this funding will be allocated to individual projects, with a value not exceeding 20 thousand dinars per farmer, noting that it is possible to grant the same amount for another part, within the same project, in order to increase the return on investment.

He added that 70% of the funding will be allocated to major projects, stressing that this type of financing requires time for the drawing up of the work plan, the conclusion of partnership agreements between investors and the completion of studies lasting 8 months to a year and a half.
