ADDRO Supports Lumen Mundi School with Essential Supplies for Special Needs Children

Builsa North, Ghana: The Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organisation (ADDRO) has made a significant donation of food items and detergents to the Lumen Mundi School of Special Children, located in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region. This gesture is aimed at supporting the school’s efforts in caring for and developing children with special needs.

According to Ghana News Agency, the donation, which was made in conjunction with this year's World Children's Day themed 'For every child, every right,' included bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, liquid soap, diapers, and toiletries. According to Mr. Prince Imoro Awimba, Programmes Coordinator at ADDRO, this contribution is part of the organization's Early Childhood Development Programme, 'Moments That Matter (MTM)'. The MTM programme, funded by Episcopal Relief and Development in the USA, operates across six regions in Ghana and focuses on the health and survival of children from conception to three years.

Mr. Awimba emphasized that ADDRO, working in the area and focusing on child development, found it crucial to support the Lumen Mundi Foundation, the entity behind the establishment of the school. This support is seen as a way to help realize the full potential of children who are physically challenged, less privileged, and require special care.

Madam Margreet Carpay, Executive Director of the Lumen Mundi Foundation, expressed her deep appreciation for ADDRO's donation. She highlighted the significant impact of the donation, stating that the supplies would sustain the school for months, allowing funds to be redirected towards further development of the children. Madam Carpay also expressed her eagerness to collaborate with ADDRO for the benefit of children with disabilities.

This donation not only supports the immediate needs of the Lumen Mundi School but also aligns with the broader goal of ensuring that every child, regardless of their physical abilities or socio-economic background, has access to their rightful education and welfare.
