Authorities in Tunisia have been accused of increasingly cracking down on press freedom and freedom of speech, with several Tunisian journalists summoned by courts and the police for statements they made in the media with a political character or which were critical of security forces. More than 20 political figures have also been imprisoned as part of case allegedly relating to a “conspiracy against state security” – a case which judicial authorities have not explained to the press.
