Kumasi: The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has praised the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, for the significant infrastructure projects executed during his time in office. This commendation came after Mr. Mensah delivered a detailed two-hour presentation to the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs at their end-of-year general meeting in Kumasi.
According to Ghana News Agency, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed his appreciation for Mr. Mensah’s harmonious relationship with the traditional leaders and highlighted his impactful tenure. The Asantehene noted, “Your appointment has been marked by a harmonious coexistence with us, a fact we hold in high regard.” He encouraged Mr. Mensah to continue his commendable efforts until the end of his tenure, promising that the traditional leaders would find a way to recognize his contributions to the region.
Mr. Simon Osei Mensah was appointed as the Ashanti Regional Minister in 2017 by President Akufo-Addo during his first term and was reappointed in 2021, ma
rking him as the first regional minister in recent memory to serve two consecutive terms. With his tenure nearing its conclusion, the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs invited him to present the infrastructure developments achieved under his leadership.
During his presentation, Mr. Mensah highlighted several projects, including the initiation of 1,178 educational projects, with more than 900 completed, the construction of 74 security services facilities, and 28 courthouses, 21 of which are operational. These projects are distributed across the region, showcasing the extensive development efforts during his nearly eight-year leadership.
