Carthage:Tunis President of the Republic Kais Saïed has declared a zero-tolerance policy concerning embezzlement, emphasizing that there will be "neither tolerance nor concession over a single millime" due to the Tunisian people. This statement was made during a meeting in Carthage with Ali Abbès, President of the National Commission for Criminal Reconciliation.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse – English, President Saïed reviewed the functioning of the commission, particularly in light of the issuance of Decree-Law n°2 of 2026 on September 30, 2026. This decree modifies Decree-Law n°13 of 2022, which pertains to criminal reconciliation and the allocation of proceeds. Despite attempts to sabotage this initiative since its inception, the commitment to recover all funds owed to the people has remained steadfast.

The President highlighted that while there is flexibility in procedures before the submission of files to the National Security Council, this should not be mistaken for a dilution of principles or a retreat from the rights of the people. The aim of this flexibility is to expedite the processing of files without compromising the objectives of the initiative.

President Saïed reassured the Tunisian people that their legitimate ambitions will be met, and their confidence in asset recovery restored. He urged those at fault to reconsider their positions and return to the correct path, free from blackmail or manipulation. The President emphasized that the rights of the people do not expire, regardless of whether their assets are located in Tunisia or abroad.

He further stated that the Tunisian people, having endured significant hardships and sacrifices, deserve to reclaim their stolen assets. The President stressed that these assets should serve the interests and aspirations of the people, underscoring that the pursuit of justice and reclamation of rights is timeless and unwavering.
