Ashaiman Residents Welcome 15 Per Cent Data Bundle Cost Reduction

Ashaiman: Residents of Ashaiman have expressed appreciation to the government for the announced 15 per cent reduction in data bundle costs, set to take effect from July 1, 2025. The residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the reduction in data charges would significantly impact their daily activities, particularly in areas such as work efficiency, personal finances, online learning, and customer engagement.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Enoch Livingston, a graphic designer based in Ashaiman, lamented the adverse effects of high data costs on his professional life and stated that frequent disruptions in internet access often forced him to decline projects, thereby affecting his income and workflow. ‘The high cost of internet services has been a consistent challenge, often preventing me from accepting new clients. This reduction in data prices will allow me to stay connected, complete projects more efficiently, and meet client expectations more effectively,’ he explained.

Miss Gifty Baidoo, a Seamstress, highlighted the vital role of social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram in promoting her business and engaging customers. ‘I rely on these platforms to display my designs and receive orders. Previously, I had to purchase data daily, which became financially burdensome. The new policy will ease this challenge and enable me to expand my business operations,’ she stated.

Miss Joyce Ackah, a beauty professional, also shared her optimism regarding the policy and emphasised that reduced data costs would support continued learning and improve outreach efforts within the beauty industry. ‘Affordable internet access is a crucial step toward economic empowerment; it will help us save more, learn better, and attract more clients, ultimately contributing to financial stability and growth,’ she noted.
