Accra: Fifteen journalists from various media houses in Ghana have been awarded certificates following a 12-week training program organized by the Africa-China Centre for Policy and Advisory (ACCPA). This initiative, part of the Ghana-China Media Fellowship, aimed to enhance media capacity concerning Africa-China relations.
According to Ghana News Agency, the fellowship included journalists from television, radio, print, and digital platforms, offering an intensive experience that comprised academic lectures, Chinese language instruction, and diplomatic engagements. The program concluded with a certificate ceremony held at ACCPA's head office in Accra.
The journalists were recognized for their participation in a series of modules that covered topics such as Chinese Modernization, Belt and Road Cooperation, Peace and Security, Cultural Diplomacy, and Media Narratives. During the closing ceremony, Mr. Paul Frimpong, the Executive Director of ACCPA, commended the graduates for their commitment and urged them to become informed storytellers in shaping public understanding of Ghana-China relations.
"This fellowship was more than training; it was a journey of discovery and dialogue. You now carry the responsibility to inform with insight," he stated.
Throughout the fellowship, participants engaged with key institutions and stakeholders, including a diplomatic session with Mr. Tong Defa, the Chinese Ambassador, and an industrial visit to China State Hualong Construction Ghana Limited, a longstanding Chinese enterprise in the country.
Participants described the experience as transformational, noting it had been an enlightening and game-changing journey. They expressed gratitude to ACCPA for creating a platform that bridged journalism, diplomacy, and policy, fostering a network of journalists dedicated to fact-based and balanced reporting on Africa-China relations.
The Ghana-China Media Fellowship 2025 has established a new standard for media development and international engagement. As the inaugural cohort celebrates this achievement, ACCPA is planning to expand the initiative, making future editions accessible to more media professionals across the continent.
