Tunis, Tunisia – Supporters of the Free Destourian Party (PDL) gathered in a protest rally outside the Ministry of Justice on Sunday, calling for the release of the party's president, Abir Moussi. The demonstration highlighted increasing tensions in Tunisian politics and the growing concerns over the treatment of opposition figures.
According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, a member of the defense collective representing Moussi, the rally was a response to what the PDL perceives as the arbitrary arrest of their leader and a broader issue of opposition exclusion. Krifa emphasized the lack of clear and precise charges against Moussi, pointing out that the case file against her primarily consists of a police report. He stressed the need for her immediate release.
Krifa informed that the case is currently with the chief investigating judge, who has not yet made a ruling. Abir Moussi was arrested and taken to the Bouchoucha remand prison in the capital on October 3, following her detention by security forces outside the Carthage Palace registry office. Two days after her arrest, the chief investigating magistrate issued a committal order for her, further escalating the situation.
