GES to Dismiss Invigilators and Supervisors Over Exam Malpractice

Accra: The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced its decision to dismiss any invigilator or supervisor found engaging in examination malpractice during the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

According to Ghana News Agency, Professor Ernest Kofi Davies, Acting Director-General of GES, stated at a press briefing in Accra that the GES Council has empowered the Service to take stringent actions against those caught indulging in examination malpractices. The 2025 WASSCE is scheduled to commence with practical examinations on August 5 and conclude with written papers on September 19. A total of 461,640 final-year Senior High School students are expected to participate in the exams across 701 centres nationwide.

Professor Davies emphasized the importance of this measure to maintain the integrity of the examination process and the overall education system. He noted that GES would work in collaboration with the West Africa Examination Council and other security agencies to ensure the smooth conduct of the examinations. He also extended his congratulations to the candidates, encouraging them to prepare diligently and avoid any form of malpractice.

In addition, Professor Davies expressed appreciation for the efforts of teachers and stakeholders in preparing the candidates. He highlighted special arrangements for candidates in conflict-prone areas, such as Bawku, where security personnel will escort students and keep them in school until the exams are over.

Furthermore, the GES has allocated GHS15,849,920 to cover practical fees for science, vocational, and technical subjects across the nation. The regions with the highest number of candidates include the Ashanti Region with 115,982, followed by the Eastern Region, Bono Regions, Central Region, and Greater Accra Region.
