Ghana to Host 2025 ADEA Triennale on Education and Training

Accra: The Ministry of Education will host this year's Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) Triennale on Education and Training from October 29 to 31, 2025, in Accra. The flagship event will focus on the theme: 'Strengthening the resilience of Africa's educational systems: advancing towards ending learning poverty by 2035 with a well-educated and skilled workforce for the continent and beyond.'

According to Ghana News Agency, the ADEA Triennale will bring together Ministers of Education, senior government officials, and key education stakeholders, including educators, development partners, researchers, academia, private sector representatives, and thought leaders in education from Africa and beyond. These stakeholders will exchange insights, showcase best practices, and chart a collective path towards the sustainable transformation of educational systems on the continent.

Mr. Haruna Iddrisu expressed Ghana's honor in welcoming the ADEA Triennale to Accra, stating, "We share ADEA's and Africa's vision of ending learning poverty by 2035 and building a skilled workforce for Africa's future." Hosting the Triennale provides Ghana a unique opportunity to highlight its educational reforms, learn from continental peers, and forge partnerships to uplift education across the continent.

Mr. Albert Nsengiyumva, the Executive Secretary of ADEA, remarked on the importance of the event, emphasizing the need to strengthen system resilience, deepen peer learning, and accelerate the adoption of proven solutions in the face of challenges like learning poverty and shifting labor market demands. He noted Ghana's leadership and commitment to educational innovation as key reasons for choosing it as the host.

This year's Triennale will review progress made in education in Africa since the 2022 Triennale in Mauritius and consider the implications of new educational initiatives. It will also examine the outcomes from the 2024 Year of Education for Africa and the African Union's declaration of 2025-2034 as a Decade of Accelerated Education.

Seven sub-themes have been proposed to ensure expansive engagement across the education sector, aligning with the overall theme of the Triennale. ADEA, hosted by the African Development Bank Group in Abidjan, C´te d'Ivoire, serves as a critical voice and forum for policy dialogue on education in Africa, aiming for high-quality education and training that promotes critical skills for the continent's development.
