Abrewankor: Mr. Peter Ntasah, President of Akyode National Youth, has urged the government to make agriculture more attractive to young people by providing essential skills and knowledge. This call was made during the 22nd annual youth conference in Abrewankor, a suburb of the Nkwanta South Municipality in the Oti Region. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Ntasah highlighted that the negative perception of agriculture among the youth stems from its association with hard labor, poor pay, and limited career advancement opportunities. He emphasized the need for vocational training, technological innovation, financial access, and market opportunities to change this perception and encourage youth participation in agriculture. Mr. Ntasah argued that focusing on agriculture could provide significant employment opportunities for young people, thereby contributing to the country's economic growth. He also pointed out various challenges the youth face, including issues related to health, education, employment, road infrastructure, and access to communication networks. Nana Enyineh Gyadu Nkansa III, the Ankobeahene of Larteh Akuapem and chair of the event, along with being the Director of Taysec Construction Limited, called on the youth to concentrate on their careers and actively participate in governmental policies to aid national development. He also encouraged the youth to embrace peace and unity to foster development in their communities. The conference, celebrated under the theme "Uniting for Peace and Sustainable Development: The Role of the Akyode Youth," featured speeches from traditional leaders, government officials, and youth advocates, all focusing on empowering the youth for a better future.
