President of the Republic Kais Saied called for creating a "new global financial institution" to be funded by "loans after their cancellation and looted funds after their recovery".

The goal of the Head of State is to establish a new humane system which would bring hope and prosperity to countries around the world.

Taking the floor at the International Conference on Development and Migration, Sunday, in Rome, the President of the Republic reminded of Tunisia's brave history in abolishing slavery.

"Tunisia has abolished slavery since 1874. We refuse to return to slavery again through irregular migration," the Head of State pointed out.

Tunisia is against any project for the establishment of irregular migration. It also refuses to serve as a transit point or a refuge for the outlaws, he added.

Saied recalled the solidarity shown by the Tunisian people during the crisis of sub-Saharan irregular migrants, adding that they gave moral lessons by promoting human values over any other consideration.

According to the Head of State, the issue of irregular migration could be solved only through the international community rather than unilaterally or through the signature of bilateral agreements

Saied reiterated that this high-level conference is the first of its kind to address «seriously» the issue of irregular migration, adding that this phenomenon has become a real human tragedy over the past years.
