Key Stakeholders Discuss Enhancements in Public Infrastructure Delivery

ACCRA: Key representatives from various sectors including government, civil society organizations (CSOs), and the private sector convened to discuss improvements in public infrastructure delivery. According to Ghana News Agency, the meeting was facilitated by the Senior Presidential Adviser and the National Secretariat of the Open Government Partnership (OGP). The agenda focused on identifying principal challenges in public infrastructure governance, enhancing transparency, and exchanging success stories from subnational levels. Mrs. Thelma Ohene-Asiamah, a Director at the Public Sector Reforms Secretariat and OGP Point of Contact, emphasized the importance of gathering diverse perspectives to strengthen the OGP's commitment to transparency and participation. "We are here to co-create proven solutions to address transparency and accountability issues in the sector," she stated. Mrs. Ohene-Asiamah further mentioned that various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies would be sensitized to support the realizat ion of the OGP commitments by 2027. Mr. Aziz Mahmoud, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer on the CoST project, highlighted the achievements in public infrastructure delivery within eight Assemblies in the Western Region, attributing the success to social accountability and ongoing engagement with relevant assemblies. Additionally, Ms. Mary Awelana Addah, a CSO Lead, pointed out the critical need for transparency in procurement processes to benefit citizens directly. The meeting underscored a collective effort to improve infrastructure delivery through enhanced governance mechanisms and stakeholder collaboration.
