Krachi-Wura Advocates for Autonomy of Dambai College of Education

Krachi east municipality: Nana Mprah Besemuna III, the President of Krachi Traditional Council, has made a strong appeal to the government and the educational authorities to grant autonomy to Dambai College of Education (DACE). The request was made during the 17th congregation of the college, highlighting the benefits such independence would bring to the institution and the region. According to Ghana News Agency, in his address to students and faculty, Krachi-Wura emphasized that autonomy would allow DACE to make independent decisions which are crucial for fostering innovation and growth within the institution. He stressed that this move would not only improve the quality of education but also increase accessibility for local students and spur economic development in the area. Nana Besemuna III, who also served as the immediate past President of the Oti Region House of Chiefs, pointed out that granting autonomy would position DACE as a leading institution for teacher education, benefiting not just the Oti R egion but beyond. He elaborated on the positive impacts of such a change, which include enhanced administrative and academic freedom, and a better capacity to respond to the educational needs of the community. Supporting the Krachi-Wura's statement, Mr. Vincent Mireku, a first-class graduate of DACE, also advocated for the college's autonomy. He noted the college's substantial land size and infrastructure as key factors that make it an ideal candidate for autonomy. Mr. Mireku called on stakeholders, including the education ministry and other relevant institutions, to support this initiative to ensure that DACE reaches its full potential.
