Local Churches Unite for Peaceful December Elections in Dambai.

Dambai: The Local Council of Churches in Dambai, situated within the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region, has collaborated with various stakeholders to ensure peace and violence-free elections in the upcoming December polls. This initiative aims to promote a harmonious electoral process as the nation prepares for its December 7th elections.

According to Ghana News Agency, Bishop Noah Adeti, the Chairman of the Council, emphasized the importance of objective and constructive criticism among residents and Ghanaians at large. He advised against being overly influenced by political affiliations and urged political parties and their candidates to conduct their campaigns respectfully, avoiding tactics that malign opponents. Bishop Adeti highlighted the need to eliminate politics of insults, ethnocentric remarks, and unnecessary rivalries, which could exacerbate tensions.

Further, Bishop Adeti urged clergy and religious bodies across Ghana to educate their members and organize fasting and prayers to seek di
vine peace during the elections. Mr. Clement Kwasi Mamadu, the Krachi East Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), reinforced this message by advising citizens to refrain from spreading misinformation, hate speech, and engaging in political ethnic violence, which could incite unrest.

Mr. Nelson Kofi Djabab, the parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Krachi East constituency, committed to consistently advocating for peace within the constituency and throughout the country. Similarly, Mr. Charles Gyamfi Boateng, the Municipal Chief Executive for Krachi East, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), pledged to ensure peaceful elections. He noted the region’s historical benefits from NPP initiatives, such as its elevation to a constituency and administrative district during former president John Agyekum Kuffour’s administration.

The peace walk event saw participation from various stakeholders, including the Municipal Director of NCCE and st
aff, former DCE for Krachi East, religious leaders, youth wings, voters, and supporters from both NPP and NDC, demonstrating a united front for peaceful elections.
