Winneba: The Ghana Methodist Guild has announced a significant initiative to extend its scholarship scheme to support brilliant children at the Rafiki Satellite Village located in Gyahadze near Winneba. This decision highlights the Guild's commitment to education, starting with the sponsorship of one child, with plans to increase the number of beneficiaries in the future. According to Ghana News Agency, the Connexional Chairman of the Methodist Guild, Mrs. Patience Ameyaa Sam, made the announcement during a presentation of gifts to the children at the Satellite Village. This gesture was part of the celebration marking the Society's 125th Anniversary, which took place in Cape Coast in September. The donation, valued at GHC 20,000.00, included drinks, bags of rice, gallons of cooking oil, disinfectants, toiletries, and an undisclosed amount of cash. Mrs. Ameyaa Sam emphasized that the initiative aims to foster a sense of camaraderie, aligning with the Methodist Guild's objectives, and ensuring that the Orph anage feels integrated into the broader society. She expressed hope that this donation would encourage other philanthropists, corporate entities, and non-governmental organizations to contribute, especially as the festive season approaches. Mr. Benjamin Nana Yamoah, the Winneba Diocesan Lay Chairman, praised the Connexional Guild's charitable efforts and encouraged others to follow their example. He noted that the Orphanage, established by the Methodist Church, is open to all, not just church members, and invited those interested to support the Village. Rev. Dr. Isaac Nana Abekah, Director of the Rafiki Satellite Village, expressed gratitude to the Methodist Guild for their generous support and called for continued assistance from individuals and organizations dedicated to helping nurture the children into responsible citizens. Before departing to their respective Dioceses, Rev. Abekah guided the Guild members on a tour of the Rafiki Satellite Village, allowing them to interact with the children.
