BOLE: The Ministry of National Security, in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), recently hosted a three-day meeting in the Savannah Region, aimed at revising the National Framework for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism. The event gathered diverse stakeholders, including security agencies, religious leaders, traditional authorities, and representatives from public organizations, women, and youth groups, to provide input on the evolving security landscape. According to Ghana News Agency, the gathering in Bole was supported by the Government of Australia and underscored the necessity of updating the Framework, initially launched in 2019, to address the shifting dynamics of security threats. Dr. Sayuti Baba, the Focal Person on Counter Terrorism at the Ministry of National Security, emphasized the importance of adapting the Framework to meet contemporary security challenges. Dr. Baba also announced that a team from the United Nations is scheduled to visit the country from November 04 to November 08 to further evaluate efforts in preventing violent extremism. He praised the dedication of stakeholders, particularly traditional leaders, for their active participation in enhancing responses to security challenges in the region.
