Nearly 6,528 tonnes of subsidised products, 8. 45 tonnes of cooking salt seized (Presidency) [Upd 1]

Nearly 6,528 tonnes of subsidised products and 8.45 tonnes of cooking salt were seized on August 15 in an inspection campaign in fifteen flour mills, the Presidency of the Republic said. The actual quantity seized is 202,1 tonnes while the estimated quantity is put at about 6,325.9 tonnes. This includes 1,597 tonnes of subsidised flour, 99.5 tonnes of high quality floor, 1.579.6 tonnes of semolina, 3,100 tonnes of wheat and 151.9 tonnes of bran. The campaign was conducted by law enforcement officers, national guards and staff from the Trade and Finance ministries as well as the Grain Board. President Kais Saied chaired a meeting on Tuesday attended by Prime Minister Ahmed Hachani, as well as Interior Minister Kamel Feki, Trade and Export Development Minister Kalthoum Ben Rejeb Gazzeh, Director General of National Security Mourad Saidane and Director General of the National Guard Hassine Gharbi. The meeting addressed the inspection campaign that took place on Tuesday in a number of flour mills and resulted in the discovery of a number of speculators and monopolists who are behind this "fabricated grain crisis", according to a statement from the presidency.
