Nurse Urges Girls in Sunyani to Preserve Virginity for Future Marriages

Sunyani: Miss Patience Baffoe, a Senior Staff Nurse at the Sunyani Teaching Hospital, has advised girls to preserve their virginity to enjoy their future marriages. She emphasized that pre-marital sexual practices could expose them to sexually transmitted infections and potentially affect their future marriages.

According to Ghana News Agency, Ms. Baffoe provided this advice during an event organized by Wensah Foundation International, a non-governmental organization that distributed boxes of sanitary pads to primary six and Junior High School girls at the Nyamaa Basic School in Sunyani. The beneficiaries were between the ages of 12 and 16 years. Ms. Baffoe also advised girls who might struggle with abstinence to avoid sexual activity during menstruation to reduce the risk of infections.

She highlighted that engaging in pre-marital sex could disrupt their education and negatively impact their roles in society. Madam Constance Gyansah, the Headmistress of Nyamaa Basic School, expressed gratitude to the foundation for its support and urged the public to assist in painting the school.

Mr. Isaac Osei Amponsah, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, told the Ghana News Agency that the foundation is dedicated to improving the general wellbeing of vulnerable people in society.
