The overall number of valid permits at the end of June stood at 17 (14 exploration and 3 prospecting permits), the National Energy and Mining Observatory coming under the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Energy said in a report on the energy situation. The total number of concessions stands at 56, including 44 in production. The State is involved through the Tunisian company for petroleum Activities (French: ETAP) in 34 of those in production and directly in three. No additional seismic acquisition or development drilling operations were reported at the end June. A new well drilling operation (two wells) was reported: Araifa-2 and Sabeh-1 at the end of June.
