Police and Collaborators Arrest Four in Connection with Aflao MoMo Vendor Murder

Aflao: The Volta Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID) and other collaborators have arrested four individuals suspected of being involved in the murder of a Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor in his shop at Aflao. The suspects, identified as Michael Sewornu, 34, Korku Agboada, 43, Atsu Agbagla, 36, and Utsuku Onyeso, 22, are alleged to have participated in the crime.

According to Ghana News Agency, the late Christopher Ahordo's shop was reportedly attacked on Monday, April 28, by a group of five males. One of the assailants, masked and armed, allegedly robbed the vendor of his day's earnings and subsequently shot and killed him. The suspects were apprehended during a joint operation by the RPID, the Police SWAT Unit, Operation Motherland Taskforce, and 'ACTION NOW', a community watch committee in Aflao.

In a press release by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Felix Danku from the Public Affairs Unit of the Volta Regional Police Headquarters, it was stated that the arrest took place on Saturday. The suspects are slated to be brought before the court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025. The release emphasized the need for public cooperation with law enforcement by providing credible and timely information about criminal activities.

Reacting to the arrests, Mr. Saviour Mawuena Kofi Ahiati, Volta Regional Chairman of the Mobile Money Advocacy Group Ghana, expressed his gratitude towards the Police and their collaborators for their efforts. He highlighted the group's concerns regarding the safety of MoMo operators and announced plans for a meeting in June at Aflao, urging MoMo vendors in the region to participate for their interests.
