Tunis: A popular march in support of the July 25 process and President Kais Saied took place Wednesday at Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis. The march was called by political parties and activists in commemoration of the 15th anniversary of the Revolution. Politicians, MPs, and official personalities, including Speaker of the Assembly of People's Representatives Ibrahim Bouderbala, civil society activists, and supporters of the July 25 process among citizens marched in downtown Tunis.
According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the participants waved banners calling for "preventing foreign interference in the Tunisian sovereign decision," criminalizing what they called the "foreign protectorate on Tunisian territory," and prosecuting those they labeled as "traitors." They also displayed banners supportive of the State policy since July 25, 2021, when a new political process spearheaded by President Kais Saied was set in motion, with the assertion that the spark of the Revolution ignited on December 17 rather than January 14.
Speaker Ibrahim Bouderbala expressed his presence alongside Tunisians to observe the 15th anniversary of the December 17 Revolution and to listen to their concerns. He emphasized that "what matters today is that Tunisia is on the right path and that the social state meets the needs of all Tunisians," adding that the aim is to build a proper future for all citizens without exception. Bouderbala highlighted the importance of the Finance Law, which allows Tunisians to become familiar with an ambitious program aimed at reaching social targets.
MP Abdelaziz Chabani stated that the commemoration is "an opportunity for the Tunisian people to voice their unconditional support for President Kais Saied." He called for vigilance against those attempting to undermine national stability and highlighted achievements since July 25, which align with Tunisians' will to salvage their country. Chabani stressed the need to respond to social and economic demands, which are central to the Tunisian Revolution.
Houcem Ben Ahmed, President of the political bureau of the July 25 movement, emphasized the necessity for a cabinet reshuffle to appoint national personalities who share the President's reformist vision. He praised achievements since July 25, 2021, particularly in fighting corruption, ensuring accountability, and prosecuting those who misappropriated national assets.
Saoussen Hamdi, Leader of the Coordination of Unemployed PhD Holders, noted the march's demonstration of the President's popularity, crediting him with saving the country from years of chaos. However, she pointed out government shortcomings, especially regarding unemployment issues, and urged the President to personally address long-term unemployment challenges.
President Kais Saied visited Habib Bourguiba Avenue at dawn on Wednesday, where he was welcomed by citizens waving banners of support. This occurred hours before the scheduled march by supporters of the July 25 process and the President to mark the Revolution's anniversary.
