It is more necessary than ever to confront the growing phenomenon of inhuman migration and to tackle its deep causes and origins, said President of the Republic Kaïs Saïed during his meeting in Rome on Sunday with President of the Italian Council, Giorgia Meloni, as part of her participation in the International Conference on Migration and Development.
The Head of State also seized the opportunity to reaffirm the imperative need to mobilise efforts to counter the criminal networks that are primarily responsible for this phenomenon, but also and above all for trafficking in human beings and organs.
This was an opportune moment to recall the solid, long-standing ties of friendship and cooperation between Tunisia and Italy. President Saïed stated that the recurrence of high-level meetings in recent times bears witness to the depth of these solid relations and to the sincere determination to build a common future that best meets the aspirations of the Tunisian and Italian peoples and their higher interests.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the various aspects and themes on the agenda of the international conference on "Migration and Development".
