Accra: A protester who climbed the clocktower at London's King's Cross train station with a dog was brought down safely on Tuesday. The demonstrator unfurled a banner that read 'Iran belongs to its people' and wore a black t-shirt with the words 'no to war' as he scaled the structure, holding the dog at around 8am (0700 GMT).
According to Ghana News Agency, firefighters used a cherry picker to approach the activist, eventually persuading him to hand over the dog. The animal was safely brought to the ground around three hours into the stand-off, much to the cheers of onlookers. The protester agreed to descend shortly before midday.
A spokesman for British Transport Police stated that officers were called to the station due to 'reports of a person in a precarious position'. A cordon was established around the tower while the protester was occasionally seen standing on the ledge.
The protester packed away his banner shortly before midday and was brought to the ground using the cherry picker.
