This session introduced a mentorship manual designed to guide She Leads School Clubs patrons during their interactive engagements. During the dissemination and capacity-building mentorship session in Wa, Ms. Joyce Obenewaa Darko, the Acting Project Manager for She Leads at Plan International Ghana, emphasized that the manual would also function as a tool for assessing the progress and impact of the clubs. She noted the project's significant influence in encouraging girls in Senior High Schools to assume leadership roles traditionally dominated by males. Additionally, it has fostered a network of change advocates, including elders and traditional and religious leaders, who are spearheading efforts to transform negative gender norms and roles in their communities. Ms. Darko highlighted sustainability measures, mentioning the strengthening of existing structures within schools and communitie s to maintain the project's influence. She stated, "In the schools, we want to continue to strengthen the clubs we have formed and strengthen the capacity of patrons so that they can continue to empower the girls. We want to continue to support work plans of champions of change so that they can continue to impact and change negative gender norms within the communities." Mr. Abudu Fuseini, Guidance and Counseling Coordinator at Wa Islamic SHS, stressed the importance of expanding the Club's membership to allow more girls to benefit from the project. He pointed out that increasing the number of participating girls would enhance the initiative's impact, particularly in school settings where peer influence is significant. Ms. Ernestina Biney, Acting Executive Director of CARD-Ghana, remarked on the Clubs' positive influence on the girls, noting improvements in their capacities and confidence levels. She acknowledged the need to broaden the Clubs' membership but indicated that they would collaborate with Club pa trons to establish criteria for admitting more members to ensure the project's sustainability. Participants in the session included She Leads Club patrons, Guidance and Counseling Coordinators from project SHSs, champions of change, and representatives from the Wa Municipal Education Directorate, among others. The She Leads project is expected to contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering all women and girls by 2030.
