Accra: Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has kicked off a nationwide tour aimed at promoting the 'Visit Volta Region' campaign, beginning with a comprehensive visit to the Volta Region.
According to Ghana News Agency, the Minister's four-day tour in the Volta Region included visits to several tourist attractions such as the Tafi Atome Monkey Sanctuary and Cultural Village, Adaklu, and Wli Waterfalls. The tour is part of a strategic effort to enhance institutional development and promote the region's tourism potential.
Madam Gomashie was joined by her Deputy, Mr. Yussif Jajah, along with the Chief Director of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, CEOs, their Deputies, and Executive Directors from all 13 agencies under the Ministry. A retreat was held during the tour to provide orientation and guidance, particularly to newly appointed public servants, with input from former Directors of the Public Services Commission and the Office of the Head of Civil Service, as well as a distinguished Ambassador from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During a meeting with regional staff from the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Museums and Monuments Board, and the National Commission on Culture, Madam Gomashie emphasized the importance of realizing the tourism potential of the Volta Region. She noted that this region was chosen as the starting point of her tour across Ghana to align with the vision of President John Dramani Mahama and to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in boosting tourism.
Madam Gomashie acknowledged the efforts of Wode Maya, a prominent African tourism vlogger, and Mr. Abeiku Santana, Deputy CEO of GTA, for their support in promoting the 'Visit Volta Region' initiative. As part of her tour, the Minister and her team plan to meet with the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, to discuss their mission of enhancing the tourism sector in the region.
The Minister, along with CEOs and Executive Directors of tourism agencies, is expected to continue touring other regions in the coming days as part of the ongoing efforts to advance tourism development across the country.
