The stock market continued its downward trend. The benchmark index closed the trading session on Wednesday, August 9, with a slight decrease of 0.2%, closing at 8898.3 points. This assessment comes from the analysis of broker "Tunisie Valeurs". The session witnessed robust trading activity that reached 14.2 million dinars (MD), benefiting from a large block transaction in SPDIT shares. This investment company, which is linked to the SFBT, saw inflows of 10.9 million dinars. Notable gains were recorded in STIP shares. Despite the absence of trading activity, Tunisia's only tyre manufacturer recorded a notable increase of 4.4% to reach TND 3.820. This rise has effectively improved part of its annual losses, reducing them to a modest -4.5%. SOTETEL, which specialises in telecommunications networks, was one of the session's top performers. The stock rose by 2.6% to TND 3.920, with limited trading activity, reaching a total of TND 21,000. MPBS, on the other hand, was the worst performer of the session. Shares in the wood panel specialist fell by 2.9% to TND 4.610. It is important to note that trading volume in this stock remained modest, totalling a modest TND 55,000 for the session. The company's revenues for the first half of the current year were down 11% overall to TND 26.9 million. Similarly, City Cars, a car retailer, showed a disappointing performance throughout the session. The share price of this company fell by 2.9% to close at TND 11.800. Despite its decline, City Cars was one of the most active stocks of the session, generating a total trading volume of around TND 1 million. On the back of the aforementioned block transaction, and despite a lack of trading on the main market, SPDIT stock dominated trading volumes. This SICAF stock monopolised a staggering 77% of the market's trading activity (equivalent to TND 10.9 million). It is worth noting that this stock experienced a pause during the session and closed at TND 7.760.
