Yaoundé, Cameroon – Tunisia, leading the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, has played a pivotal role in shaping the Yaoundé Final Declaration, focusing on the protection of civilians and human life. This move comes amid growing concerns over the treatment of the Palestinian people.
According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, Nabil Ammar, presiding over the 44th Ministerial Conference under the theme 'Good Governance: A Guarantee of Political, Economic and Cultural Stability for Francophone Citizens,' highlighted the decisions of the Djerba Francophonie Summit (November 2022). These included the Declaration of Djerba and the adoption of the Francophonie strategic framework for 2023-2030, focusing on peace promotion and crisis avoidance in Francophone areas.
Ammar also reiterated the call for enhanced cooperation among member states of the International Organisation of the Francophonie on recovering stolen funds and combating money laundering. He emphasized the critical role of these efforts in fostering cooperation, trust, and good governance within the Francophone region.
The Tunisian approach to good governance, as outlined by Ammar, is seen as a key element of fair democracy, economic development, and social integration. He reviewed Tunisia's commitment to implementing good governance practices in public affairs management and highlighted the nation's dedication to combating corruption, which is viewed as a vital aspect of strengthening democracy and manifesting good governance.
