Tunis, Tunisia - The Tunisian Red Crescent has announced a significant initiative to support Gazan students studying at Tunisian universities.
According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, Spokesperson for the Tunisian Red Crescent, speaking to TAP news agency, the organization will provide a 400-dinar monthly grant to 144 Gazan students over three months.
This financial aid comes as a response to the challenging circumstances faced by these students, whose families are unable to send them money due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. The decision to offer this assistance follows a meeting between Gragba and the Palestinian Ambassador to Tunisia, Hayel Al-Fahoum.
In addition to these grants, a joint committee has been established to monitor the situation of the 503 Palestinian students currently enrolled in Tunisian universities. This committee's role is to ensure these students receive all necessary assistance during their studies in Tunisia.
The Tunisian Red Crescent has been actively conducting a fundraising campaign across Tunisia to support this initiative. However, the total amount of funds collected so far has not been disclosed.
This effort by the Tunisian Red Crescent highlights the organization's commitment to providing aid to international students in need, particularly those from conflict-affected areas like Gaza, ensuring their educational journey in Tunisia is not hindered by financial constraints.
