According to Ghana News Agency:ccording to Ghana News Agency, the day is observed in a solemn environment with wreaths laid to recognise the sacrificial service of the armed forces members who sacrificed their lives for the peace that exists today. The Upper West Region’s observance of the day was held in Wa with 150 servicemen on parade commanded by Captain Ernest Kweku Saaka of the 10th Mechanised Battalion in Wa.
Mr Stephen Yakubu, the Upper West Regional Minister, laid a wreath on behalf of the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Ex. Warrant Officer Grade One (WO1) Mr Dozie Kwesi Gyilley, the Upper West Regional Chairman of the Veterans Administration, laid a wreath on behalf of the veterans. The Wala Traditional Council, the widows of the veterans, and the security services also laid wreaths each to commemorate the day.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sideline of the event, WO1 Mr Gyilley expressed happiness about the recognition and honour
done to the veterans.
