Vice President Bawumia Advises Police to Utilize Internal Channels for Grievances

Accra, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has urged members of the Ghana Police Service to address their work-related grievances through the Service's established command structures rather than resorting to public discussions.

According to Ghana News Agency, During the 52nd graduation of the Cadet Officer Course of the Ghana Police Service in Accra, Dr. Bawumia, who also chairs the Police Council, emphasized the importance of following the rules and regulations of the Police Service for maintaining peace and harmony. He stressed that solutions cannot be found in informal settings like 'chop bars' or social gatherings when formal channels, including the office of the chair of the Police Council, are available. The graduation ceremony at the Ghana Police Academy in Tesano saw 344 officers commissioned into the Senior Officer Corps after six months of intensive training.

The Vice President noted the well-organized structure and effective communication channels within the Police Service, which necessitate adherence from every officer. He commended the Police Administration for evolving the training of Cadet Officers to meet the demands of democratic policing. Dr. Bawumia pointed out the encouraging outcomes from the field by the graduates of the reformed training initiative. He also assured of the Government's commitment to equipping the Police Service for maintaining law and order, highlighting upcoming infrastructure developments for the Police Academy and the decentralization of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) across the country.
