Assin Odumasi: The Assin Odumasi Restoration, Child and Youth Development Center has distributed various vegetable seedlings to approximately 100 farmers in the area. This initiative aims to enhance crop yields and improve the livelihoods of the local farming community.
According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Iftikhar Ahmed Fenyi, Project Director of the Center, emphasized the importance of equipping farmers with the means to plant, harvest, sell, and save money to support their families. The seedlings, valued at GHS50,000.00, include tomatoes, green pepper, chili pepper, cucumber, and cabbage, among others.
Mr. Fenyi highlighted the organization’s dedication to alleviating poverty, promoting self-sufficiency, and ensuring food security in the Assin South District by providing access to quality seeds. He urged beneficiaries to utilize the seeds effectively for the benefit of all.
Agriculture is a crucial sector in Ghana, with an estimated 52 percent of the population, approximately 34.12 million people, depending on it for sustenance and income.
Rev. Peter Hagan, one of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the support and praised the Center for supplying high-quality seedlings. He expressed confidence that the assistance would lead to increased crop yields and improved livelihoods.
