No less than 5600 runners representing 30 countries will take part in the three races of the Comar Tunis-Carthage marathon, organised Sunday on the theme “let’s run for a green Tunisia”. The three flagship races featuring in the program of this 35th edition are the 5 km open to all, the half marathon of 21 km and the marathon of 42 km dedicated to professional runners. At a previous press conference, the organizers of the Marathon announced the participation in the marathon event of more than 800 runners including, from Algeria and other big names from Kenya and Ethiopia, while 2640 runners will take part in the half marathon, 445 participants will compete in the race for children and 1696 will be in the race for all. Prizes of 7000 dinars will be awarded to the winners of the races, with a special prize of 3000 dinars for the records achieved. Organisers said this edition will be devoted to awareness and promotion of the environment, through a major tree planting campaign in forests ravaged by wildfires in recent months. This will be done by earmarking a dinar on each registration fee or the Marathon to plant 26674 trees. Regarding the activities planned on the sidelines of the marathon, the organisers have scheduled a series of cultural and leisure activities dedicated to all ages at Habib Bourguiba Avenue, in addition to a race for young people and their families through a circuit crossing much of Mohamed V Avenue.
