All fires reported across country extinguished (Interior Minister)

Interior Minister Kamel Feki told a plenary session of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) that all the fires in the country's various regions had been extinguished, notably in Tabarka, Jendouba, Béja, Bizerte and Mount Semama. During a hearing session chaired by Speaker Ibrahim Bouderbala, the Minister presented the various activities of his department, notably with regard to the fires, irregular migration, national security and the strategic guidelines for the coming period. During his address, Feki added that the courage of the Civil Protection General Directorate, the National Guard and the National Army was behind the success of the rescue and fire fighting operations. No human casualties had been reported, said Feki. "Twelve (12) people were asphyxiated by the smoke and were treated by the health services," he indicated, pointing out that the 600 residents evacuated from the areas affected by the fires have returned home. The Minister also paid tribute to the members of the Algerian army and the Spanish team who had helped put out the fires.
