Anloga NCCE Launches Public Education Campaign on Ghana’s Constitution

Anloga: The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) at Anloga District in the Volta Region has undertaken a significant initiative to educate the public on the 1992 Constitution of Ghana. This effort is part of the year’s constitution week celebrations, aiming to enhance constitutional awareness and civic engagement among citizens across different communities.

According to Ghana News Agency, Madam Emmanuella Woelikplim Apetorgbor, the Assistant Civil Education Officer (ACEO) at Anloga, emphasized the importance of raising awareness about the constitution to foster a culture of citizenship and civic responsibility. She explained that by educating citizens about the constitution, the NCCE hopes to empower them to participate fully in the democratic process.

The NCCE has launched a public education campaign that includes outreach programs, workshops, and seminars to inform the public about the constitution’s provisions and their implications. Madam Apetorgbor highlighted that another objective of the NCCE’s education campaign is to engage citizens in discussions about the constitution and its role in shaping the country’s development. This engagement aims to foster a deeper understanding to promote a sense of ownership and responsibility among all.

The celebration of Constitution Week provides an opportunity to encourage civic engagement and inspire citizens to participate in the democratic process actively. The NCCE’s community engagements commenced on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at Dzita, Agbledomi-Anyigbatsite, and targeted groups such as the Ghana National Tailors and Dressmakers’ Association (GNTDA) at Anloga. These efforts will continue in various basic and secondary schools in the following weeks.

Civil education is intended to equip citizens with the necessary information about the constitution’s provisions and principles, empowering them to make informed decisions and hold their leaders accountable. The NCCE’s engagement also provides a platform for discussing progress in implementing constitutional provisions, identifying areas for improvement, and reflecting on the constitution’s significance and impact on citizens’ lives.

Madam Apetorgbor expressed the NCCE’s aspiration for a future where the constitution continues to guide the country’s development. She urged everyone to work together to ensure that the constitution remains a living document that promotes justice, equity, and prosperity for all.
