BOSOMTWE: In an emotional gathering at the Jachie Church of Pentecost, 31 newly graduated engineers and their families celebrated the efforts of Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana's Minister for Education, who funded their studies at the university. The event served as a thanksgiving service to honor Dr. Adutwum's contributions to the education and future of these young professionals. According to Ghana News Agency, parents of the graduates shared heartfelt stories of how Dr. Adutwum's intervention transformed their lives, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunities he provided. Dr. Adutwum, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, was praised for his commitment to education and his selfless support of his constituents. The scholarship program funded by Dr. Adutwum includes tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend, and a laptop for each student, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to supporting the students' academic endeavors. The 31 engineering graduates are the first cohort of a larger initiat ive aimed at sponsoring around 150 students to pursue studies in engineering and medicine. This effort is part of Dr. Adutwum's vision to enhance the education and human resource development of Bosomtwe. Initially set to produce 100 engineers and medical doctors, the target was increased to meet growing demand for educational support. Dr. Adutwum shared that his motivation stemmed from his own financial struggles during his education, which were alleviated only through the sacrifices of his family. His personal journey from humble beginnings to becoming the Minister for Education fuels his commitment to give back to society. He emphasized that education is crucial for national development and expressed hope that his contributions would inspire transformative policies in the future. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Adutwum urged support for the New Patriotic Party to continue the implementation of beneficial policies and expressed his belief in the power of politics to improve lives through impactful decision-m aking.
