Four Individuals Remanded Over Alleged Fake Food Delivery Scam in Accra

Accra: An Accra Circuit Court has remanded four individuals into police custody for allegedly operating fraudulent food delivery services online. Elliot Sotama Atsu, Elijah Sotama Etse, Jethro Atsu, and Obed Selasi Agboli are accused of deceiving customers into placing food orders with advance mobile money payments, which were never fulfilled.

According to Ghana News Agency, the accused have been charged with conspiracy to commit crime and defrauding by false pretenses. Their pleas were not taken as investigations are still ongoing. The court has scheduled their next appearance for November 3.

Court documents reveal that on October 10, 2025, the Cybercrime Unit of the Ghana Police Service, acting on intelligence, arrested the suspects at their hideout at PK's Luxury Apartment in Haatso, Accra. The suspects allegedly created fake online platforms mimicking established food vendors like Papaye, Pizzaman Chickenman, KFC, and Mawarko. These fraudulent sites tricked customers into making advance payments via mobile money, but the promised food deliveries were never made.

During the operation, twelve mobile phones believed to have been used in the fraudulent activities were seized. These devices will undergo digital forensic examination to aid the investigation.
