GEPA Recognizes Women’s Role in Promoting Ghanaian Chocolates Globally

ACCRA: The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has acknowledged the pivotal role played by Ghanaian women in elevating the country's premium cocoa beans into esteemed chocolate products on the international stage. During a two-day workshop in Accra, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of GEPA, Samuel Dentu, emphasized the importance of women's innovation in adding value to Ghana's cocoa beans, which has contributed to the success of these products globally. According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Dentu highlighted GEPA's efforts in empowering women-led cocoa processing enterprises, providing them with the tools necessary to compete on the global market. He reiterated the Authority's dedication to enhancing the capacities of women entrepreneurs in Ghana, addressing challenges such as setting competitive export prices-a persistent issue for many women-led businesses. Mr. Dentu expressed confidence in the potential of Ghanaian women entrepreneurs, describing them as the future of the chocolate industry. He assured them of GEPA's commitment to support their journey, stating, "We believe in you, and we are committed to helping you overcome every challenge, one step at a time." The workshop, organized by the International Trade Centre (ITC) under the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, focused on critical areas such as export pricing and logistics. Funded by the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), the program aims to foster a gender-responsive business environment by supporting women-led businesses in Commonwealth nations. Participants engaged with expert facilitators in interactive sessions designed to bolster their competitiveness on the global market.
