Anum: The Paramount Chief of the Anum Traditional Area, Akusiaku Brempong Kumi Sasraku VIII, has granted 1000 acres of land in Anum, located in the Eastern region, to the Ghana Prisons Service. The land is designated for use as a training school and farmland, aimed at expanding the agricultural activities of the prisons.
According to Ghana News Agency, the announcement was made during a meeting involving the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka (MP), the Director-General of Prisons, Mrs. Patience Baffoe-Bonnie (ESQ), and members of the Prisons Directorate and Anum Traditional Area. The Minister has instructed that the necessary documentation for the land acquisition be completed promptly.
The Paramount Chief's gesture is expected to benefit not only the Prisons Service but also the Anum community by creating job opportunities. This initiative aligns with the strategic direction of the Director-General, aiming to expand agricultural activities to support the Feed Ghana Project.
The meeting was attended by several key figures, including the Deputy Director-General of Prisons in charge of Operations Dr. Francis Omane Addo, Chief Director at the Ministry of Interior Mrs. Doreen P. Annan, Director of Prisons in charge of Technical DOP Gloria Essando (ESQ), as well as traditional leaders and senior prison officers.
