Kyiv: Kyiv is ready to open a new, mutually beneficial chapter in Ukrainian-Hungarian relations "without delay," said Ukraine's top diplomat Monday. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha announced this intention after a conversation with his Hungarian counterpart, Anita Orban, over the weekend.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha described the phone conversation as 'constructive and substantive,' indicating positive momentum in the bilateral relationship. The two foreign ministers have agreed to hold a round of Hungarian-Ukrainian expert-level consultations 'as early as this week.' The aim of these consultations is to find practical and robust solutions for the Hungarian minority in Ukraine's Zakarpattia region, which Sybiha noted would benefit both countries and strengthen their bilateral relations.
The ministers also addressed Ukraine's EU accession path, as well as broader regional, European, and international agendas. This discussion was shared by Sybiha on US social media company X. Furthermore, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had previously expressed readiness to advance cooperation with Hungary in April, following the victory of Hungarian Prime Minister Magyar's Tisza Party in the parliamentary elections.
