Legislative elections illegitimate, says PDL’s Moussi

(TAP) – President of the Free Destourian Party (French: PDL) Abir Moussi Friday said legislative elections are “illegitimate and cannot be recognised.”

Moussi told a press conference held by her party the holding of these elections is neither consistent with the Constitution nor with international standards. She reminded, in this vein, of the PDL’s boycott decision.

“The party will sue all those involved in the process before national and international courts,” she said. This includes candidates, the election agency, the political power in place as well as monitoring organisations.

Moussi called on national and international media to boycott upcoming elections. The PDL will keep a low media profile during elections as it “objects to being part of the lanscape.”

She likewise urged international observation organisations to boycott the elections as their presence is a way to “whitewash them.”

“The results of these elections are already known,” she added as she put in question the credibility of the Independent High Authority for Elections.
