Accra: Some lottery stakers in Tema Community One have advised the youth not to use lottery as their main source of income as it is a game of chance. They said it should be considered as a secondary source of income, and people should get their primary source of income instead of depending on the lottery for their livelihood.
According to Ghana News Agency, the stakers emphasized that the lottery was a fair game, and there was no best strategy for winning as it was all about luck and chances. Mr. Raphael Asiedu, a bartender, shared that his motivation to play the lottery stemmed from various reasons, including the hope of financial security, the excitement of the game, and the chance of a life-changing win. He noted that despite being aware of the low odds of winning, many players remained optimistic, which could lead to continued participation.
Mr. Osmond Arhin, a tailor, discussed how the hopes and dreams associated with lottery were centered on achieving financial freedom, aiding family and friends, and fulfilling personal aspirations. Meanwhile, Mr. John Mba, a lottery agent, highlighted that while lottery winnings could provide financial relief and opportunities for individuals and families, they could also result in challenges such as mismanagement of newfound wealth.
Mr. Mba elaborated that the lottery was regulated by government agencies to ensure fairness and transparency, with measures in place to audit operations and monitor game integrity. He stressed that the odds of winning were extremely low, leading to misconceptions about the likelihood of winning and encouraging participation despite the associated risks.
