KUMASI: Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ghana's Minister for Education, has countered claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has negatively impacted the country's education system. Speaking at the 12th congregation of Jackson University College (JUC) in Kumasi, he highlighted the sector's significant achievements under the current administration. According to Ghana News Agency, Dr. Adutwum emphasized the transformative changes in education over the past seven years, urging political actors to recognize and build upon these advancements rather than undermine them for partisan gain. He noted that for the first time, high schools in Ghana are preparing to offer courses in aviation, aerospace, robotics, and engineering, among others, marking a new era of educational opportunities. During his address to the 1,276 graduates of JUC, who completed programs in Early Grade Education, French Education, and the General Programme, Dr. Adutwum showcased the designs of new, modern classrooms being constructed nationwi de. These classrooms, equipped with cutting-edge science and ICT laboratories, are part of the government's efforts to improve learning outcomes and create an optimal environment for teaching and learning. Mrs. Theodosia Jackson, Principal of JUC, highlighted the college's mission to provide hope and a brighter future for marginalized communities. Since its inception in 2009, JUC has focused on the comprehensive development of its students, leveraging technology to enhance education through virtual classrooms and e-learning systems. Mrs. Jackson also announced a partnership with NIIT India to further advance students' ICT proficiency, emphasizing the importance of digital skills in today's world.
