The outstanding public debt exceeded TND 110.2 billion in late September 2022, up 8% compared to September 2021.
The external debt (TND 66.3 billion) accounts for 60.1% of the outstanding public debt, according to figures published on Saturday by the Ministry of Finance.
Public debt service stood at TND 10.7 billion.
The repayment of the principal of the debt exceeded TND 7.5 billion, while the repayment of interest stood at TND 3.2 billion.
The external debt accounted for 40% of the country’s total outstanding debt during the first nine months of 2022.
These loans were mainly contracted under multilateral cooperation agreements (60.4%) and bilateral cooperation (17.6%).
