NINGBO: The ninth Zhejiang Book Fair has commenced alongside the 2024 Maritime Silk Road Culture and Tourism Expo and the 2024 Ningbo International Tourism Expo at the Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center. The event, themed 'Splendid Silk Road,' features an array of cultural displays and interactive exhibits, fostering a dialogue across civilizations and showcasing the rich heritage of the Silk Roads. According to Ghana News Agency, the expo highlights include a Dunhuang Flying Apsara moving sand art installation that serves as a Bluetooth headset charging dock and night light, interactive digital representations of Xi'an's Terracotta Warriors, and innovative glasses-free 3D displays of cultural relics from Zhejiang, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. The event also offers a variety of international products, including French bread and goods from Central and Eastern European nations such as Bulgaria, Romania, and Serbia. In a significant cultural collaboration, Ningbo and Xi'an will present an e xhibition titled 'Oriental Starting Point' at the Ningbo Museum starting November 26. This exhibition will run for over three months and will feature artifacts like 'secret celadon' from the Famen Temple in Baoji, Shaanxi, and other significant relics from the Yangshao Culture era and the Hemudu Site in Ningbo. The event coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Silk Roads achieving World Heritage status and the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. A special section dedicated to French culture has been a highlight, attracting numerous visitors with French bakery offerings. Vincent Lemarchand, president of the Rouen-Ningbo Friendship Committee, noted the fruitful exchanges between Ningbo and Rouen this year. International exhibitors from Central and Eastern Europe have also showcased unique items such as coffee, wine, and crystal handicrafts, gaining positive feedback from attendees. Domestically, cities along the Maritime Silk Road, including Chongqing, Changsha, and Guangzhou , have displayed their cultural features and partnerships. As a cornerstone event in Zhejiang Province, the Maritime Silk Road Culture and Tourism Expo continues to be a vital platform for cultural exchange and international cooperation, highlighting Ningbo's role in the cultural prosperity of the region.
