SIMIW: Nana Kwamena Takyi, a businessman and philanthropist, has been enstooled as the new chief of Simiw, taking on the title Nana Nguando IV. His installation as the Adontenhen of the Edina Traditional Area, under the Edina Traditional Area in the Central Region, was marked by a well-attended coronation ceremony. The event, held in the 500-year-old community, culminated in a traditional oath of allegiance at the Anomansa Palace, led by the Edinamanhen, Nana Kwodwo Conduah VI. According to Ghana News Agency, Nana Nguando IV, who brings over two decades of experience in development, promised to lead significant development initiatives in Simiw. He highlighted pressing issues such as poor road conditions, lack of healthcare facilities, inadequate educational infrastructure, and limited mobile network coverage, which he identified as major challenges facing the community. He expressed his readiness to collaborate with investors, government entities, and development partners to address these issues. Nana Nguan do IV emphasized the availability of vast lands in the community, which he is willing to allocate for the establishment of essential facilities, including schools and health centers. He called on the government and other stakeholders to provide the necessary amenities to alleviate the hardships faced by residents. He also invited investors to explore business opportunities in the agrarian community, pledging support for those who choose to invest. The new chief vowed to unify the community and serve with humility, seeking the backing of local residents in his development efforts. Nana Conduah, addressing the gathering, urged Nana Nguando IV to prioritize education and engage investors to develop community lands. Prof Samuel Ato Duncan, President General and CEO of the Centre of Awareness Research and Manufacturing Limited Company, commended Nana Nguando IV for his humility and expressed his intent to support his endeavors. Prof Duncan proposed the use of 1,000 acres of land for the cultivation of medicinal plants as part of his Green Gold Project, and in return, he pledged to build a school and a hospital for the community. Nana Nguando IV, the youngest of his father's 34 children, holds degrees in law and social science. He is also the founder of the Progressing Excellence Youth Organization, which focuses on education, health, water, sanitation, and governance.
