Tunisia is secure, says Interior Minister

Interior Minister Kamel Feki said on Wednesday, while presenting before the Parliament the strategy of his department to combat terrorism, that Tunisians are now shielded from acts of vandalism, terrorism, and any attempts to destabilise the country. "Tunisia is a secure country," he further emphasised. During a dialogue session at the Assembly of the People's Representatives (ARP), the Minister indicated that specialised security units combating terrorism have successfully shifted from merely reacting to terrorist operations to conducting proactive operations targeting terrorists holed up in the mountains. These units, he said, have played a crucial role in eliminating the main perpetrators of such acts, foiling terrorist plots, and apprehending suspects. "These victories against terrorism have saved Tunisia from numerous potential scenarios. Certain factions seek to exploit the economic and social situation to sow chaos and promote insecurity in the country," he warned. Feki asserted that the Interior Ministry will work within the framework of its strategy to preserve the state's sovereignty, ensure the citizens' security, and deliver top-quality services with a commitment to equality, objectivity, and the supremacy of the law. Furthermore, the Ministry is also endeavouring to implement operational plans in line with achieving the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030, he added.
